Icelandic Air Line Pilots´ Association
Welcome to the official website of The Icelandic Airline Pilots Association, FIA. The union was established in 1946 and celebrated its 60 year anniversary in 2006. FIA has approximately 650 members including retired members and members who are for some reason not a part of the FIA collective agreements. The union has made collective agreements with all major Icelandic Airlines holding an Icelandic AOC: Icelandair, Air Atlanta, Air Iceland, Bluebird Cargo, The Icelandic Coast Guard, Eagle Air, Myflug, The Helicopter Service, and all major Flight Academies.
There are a number of people within FIA who work in the interest of the pilots and air safety. The FIA Board, The Safety Committee, the union´s Shop Stewards, the Foreign Relations Representatives as well as the FIA staff, all work together to support our community in many ways.
The purpose of our association is written in its laws. To make collective agreements on terms and conditions on behalf of our members as well as to improve air safety, to protect our members rights and intrests and to support them in sickness according to the rules of our Medical Fund.
FIA board decides on every application to become a member of the union, according to its law.
Jóhannes Bjarni Guðmundsson President of FIA
